Is this how it feels
to feel okay? It isn’t
the great expanse
depression expected,
a reasonable
reconfiguration
of the pendulum.
That’s not what happened.
The peak did not
become a valley.
I stopped hiking.
I sat down and said
“let a river flow
around me, entrenching me
in a valley. and let
tectonic plates collide,
sending a mountain
skyward with me
at its peak. I
will not move. I
will smile and laugh
because
I
get
the
joke.”
